Engineers Guide to the National Electrical Code
H. Brooke Stauffer
Learn how to comply
with NEC® regulations in this instructive book!
One of the most important elements when
designing a building's electrical subsystems is compliance with
National Electrical Code® safety regulations. Yet, many university
engineering curricula do not address this and other essential building
codes.
For this reason, H. Brooke Stauffer Director of
Codes and Standards at the National Electrical Contractors
Association, has written this informative introduction to clearly and
accessibly steer beginning electrical engineers through the often
confusing NEC® regulations.
This quick guide will assist designers as they
navigate the structure and organization of the NEC® and the way it
relates to other codes and standards.
Based upon the
2008 revisions to the NEC®,
the Engineer's Guide to the National Electrical Code® is also
an essential reference for established engineers looking for a
refresher on the NEC® and its impact on building codes.
Key Features:
- Provides an overview of how the NEC
functions as an important tool in the process of designing and
specifying electrical systems
- Discusses the safety rationales underlying
Code rules for installing electrical systems
- Covers how the NEC is used for
regulatory purposes
- Explains how the NEC functions as
one of many tools and inputs used to design electrical distributed
systems for buildings and similar structures
- Design references are listed in the Appendix
- Information is intuitively arranged so
different parts of the Code are assembled into logical groupings
- Useful introduction to the technical content
of the NEC
- Unit 7 discusses
the consensus process for developing the NEC and other NFPA
documents
